SLJ 3D Paper Art

 Hi Followers

Today I made a Origami Star.I tried my best but never gave up. To me it looks like a piece of paper folded in to a star shape I needed help with it but figured it out after a few tries. The part I found most hardest was cutting out the papers. The part I most enjoyed was writing  this blog comment.

My pinch pot

 Hi Followers

Today our class made pinch pots. pinch pots are pots made from clay. to make the pinch pots there are only two things you will need through out this journey in making the word most best pinch pots, they are your hands and clay.

First you get a small piece of clay and squish it. Then you roll it into to a ball with your hands put the clay in between your hands and then you roll it in a circular motion. Then you get your thumb

and press it down into your ball. Then if it is hard get a little bit of water in your hand then rub it onto the place where you want to smooth out .

There is your very own pinch pot. What i liked about the task was when we squished it because it felt so relaxing. What I disliked was when we first got the clay because it was cold.

Soy Candle

 Hi Followers

Yesterday 4 people and I made Soy candles as a Christmas gift for the teachers. The first thing we did was put water into the double boiler ( put water in the big pot not small) and leave the small pot empty, then you put it on the stove ( caution you'l need an adult for this). when the water starts to get hot then you can put the wax in to the small pot but before you do that you will have to put the small pot into the boiling water to heat the under side. Then you add 200 grams of soy wax into the empty pot. While the soy is  melting you will need to get a tealight holder and put in the wicks. make sure the wicks is straight because when you pour the wax into the tealight holder the wicks will fall over and not become straight. Then when the soy wax becomes into a liquid sought of oil so then you will need to get a thermometer to make sure the temperature is at 75 degrees Celsius. Then pour the wax in to a special measuring  cup that can take high temperatures. after that you will need to pour 11 grams of lavender essence ( you can use any kind of essence) then you mix it.  After you will pour the wax into the tea light holder then leave them to harden. Once they are hard then you can light it up and enjoy.

Activity 2 2017 Practice SLJ

 Hi Followers

today I'm going to tell you a little bit about my culture. The culture that I come from is Somalia. Somalia ( or known as the horn of Africa) is located in the western side of Africa it looks like a horn.Africa is one of the biggest continents in the world. It has more than 50 country's.

What are the food we eat in Somalia

Ninety-eight percent of Somalis eat meat, rice and pasta . Eating fish, apparently, isn't very popular. Vegetables appear to largely be side dishes, and often are woven into a meat dish, such as combining potatoes, carrots and peas with meat and making a stew.

What are the clothes we ware in Somalia

As the climate in Somalia is hot, people cover most of the body from scorching sun and use natural materials to make clothing. They also wear loose garments (even men prefer skirt-like clothing) to prevent overheating. Somali men wear sarong-like clothing (a long piece of cloth wrapped around the waist).

Activity 1 2017 practice SLJ

 Hi Followers

Did you know that people from the Pacific are excellent explorers and navigators. They used the stars, sun and ocean swells to navigate (find their way) around the Pacific Ocean.

Nainoa Thompson used this ancient knowledge to navigate around the world on canoes called Hokule’a and Hikianalia. Here is a short video about Polynesian navigation. Incredible!

If I was to take 10 items on a long trip on a canoe what will I take.

  • A big box full of water
  • another box of fruit
  • A box full of clothes
  • Another box full of caned food like caned rice.
  • Some big books to read
  • my diary
  • MP3 player/Walkman
  • A hat
  • sunscreen
  • Extra things like shoes and other stuff

How My day Went

 Hi Followers

Today our class had a party and disco. We all brought in something to share. I bought popcorn and we also had mufti. Today was the last day that you could bring in our secret Santa. Secret Santa is where you pic out a name and then you have to by something for the person that you got. The budget was 2 dollars. But I couldn't get something so I got something for my secret Santa out of my lunch box. But my teacher was disappointing with me and told me if could not get something from the dairy and I told her I cant.

We also had a dance party during lunch time while everyone was playing outside our class did some boogieing.

Tinker cad is awesome and here's why

  Hi Followers

Today our class did a project on a site called Tinker cad. It Is a site that teaches you to design  and  to make or build  anything that you want to build. For starters you need to click on the top of the page which says learn but before that you need an account so click login then either enter your email or just click sign in with google ( I like to do that because it is faster). Then you can go and click learn. Once you're on a page that has a few projects( they look hard but are so easy),  you click the first task and start following the sets of instructions it gives you.

How To Make Diwali Diyas

How to make Diwali Diyas

 Ingredients/Tools
 Modelling Clay (any colour)
 Glitter
 Sequins
 Modelling tolls
Table
Steps
Step 1. Cut a small piece of the modelling Clay with the modelling toll.
Step 2. Roll the clay on the table with your palm. Do not roll it like a rolling pin. You have to roll it in a circular motion. Stop when it becomes a ball shape.
Step 3. Once it is in a ball shape you have to flatten it with your palm into a pancake shape.
Step 4. Then you flatten the edges even more with your thumbs and fingers but leave the bottom bit thick so it can stand up.
Step 5. After that, you then have to mould it into a bowl shape.
Step 6. Next you decorate using the sequins, glitter and modelling tool to make patterns.

Step 7 Enjoy

View from the cockpit

 Hi

Hi followers today I finished publishing a story made on Tuesday edited and finished on Wednesday publish to blog and ready to print.

                                                           view from the cockpit

View From The Cockpit

It was a Sunday morning in the middle of nowhere. Well, it is in the middle of the Pacific Ocean. Heading to Sydney, New South Wales, Australia's biggest hot spot. Home to Sydney Opera House. A  Boeing 747 carrying 467 passengers. Was about to arrive at Sydney Airport at 10:50 am. Right now it was 5:25. The pilot slurped his coffee and then gasped as the sun blinded him with its powerful light.

After a minute or so the pilot finally regained his eyesight and stared in awe. It was the most beautiful thing he ever saw. Then right away he spoke on the speakers to the passengers and said: “To your right if you can slide the window up you can see the sunrise” he then checked the route and sat back keeping his hands on the yoke.

Then out of nowhere the plane's right engine caught fire and was about to go for a massive nosedive. Suddenly the pilot radioed the traffic control tower at Sydney airport and yelled “Mayday mayday was going in for a nosedive then suddenly he pushed a big red button. They were red buttons, they were for a fire, it was an extinguisher.

TO BE CONTINUED

He pushed the one that said right and then the right engine's fire was extinguished but he had a big problem up ahead. Is he going to make it to the airport or is he going to have to land in the water? He saw on the radar that the airport is one mile away. He kept the plan steady and told everyone to make their seat belts tight so they might have to land in the water.

The traffic control tower sent the Royal Australian navy to go and find them and rescue them if they land on water and if they can make it follow them until land then the police and the technicians can handle it from there.

It looked like the plane was about to crash, but when the airport came in to signal range he lowered the plane and the “screech” the tires under the body of the plane hit the runway at the end there stood the airports firefighters and they came rushing out trying to get everyone out so they can see the issue. The technicians said they need to investigate and they need more time.

They asked the pilot a few questions like what did you see during the flight and what might have caused the fire? The pilot said, “ I think it was the sun's powerful rays because it blinded me when I looked at it.”

After an hour the technicians came back and they also had a look at the pilot's flight routes and said” you are right the sun’s rays did cause the fire and they took the plane to a shed and then they repaired it before being tested.

Under The Bed

 Hi viewers

Today I made a 3 paged writing the title of the narrative is called under the bed it was made on saturday wich is today if you did not notice and remember to read the small bit in the end.

Under the bed Saturday 5th September Darkness filled under his bed. He couldn't see or hear anything so he took a deep breath and went under the bed. He felt some dust bunnies and some fluff. Then he felt something fluffy, fury like a cat and super warm. What is it, then out of nowhere two yellow eyes shot up like a lightning bolt. In the corner. And “(high pitched scream) ahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh” Michael runs back up to his bed and then pulls the covers over his well frozen face. Michael calls for his Mum “Mum” then for his dad “Dad” he starts to cry then he takes another deep breath “It's going to be alright” or is it?. He is wondering what the thing under his bed is. He has so much pressure that he thinks that the thing whatever it is can hear him breathing cycasticly. He thinks it is a creepy monster thing like a bear crossed with a bull that can walk and can talk like a human but the animals shared body parts and were hit by lightning shock balls. Then he remembered that he is the bravest in his class and he has a phone so he called the Police.they were two Officers, one was skinny and short but the other one was strong and tall so he asked the short one" When the Police arrived they talked about how monsters aren't real but when Michael was starting to be persuaded he asked the Officers why don't you take a look thy were, why not take a look then you wouldn't to be so sure about that". So the short Officer bent down took his small black torch and shone it in the dark all he saw was a few dust bunnies then he saw something black he took out his Baton and poked it the thing looked at him in the eye for a few seconds then it dashed out from the bed and leaped onto his chest it made a hissing sound so the tall Officer called the animal management they came quickly as they could "what's the emergency?" they said "There on the floor," said the tall officer on the floor, the short officer was tackling two the animal management, a stray cat, so the animal management got the city by its legs with the help of the Officers and locked it up in a cage. It was then taken to the wild and set free. The small officer was treated and he was left with bad scars.

My Recount On Our Trip To Stardome

On Thursday the 2 July I wrote a recount on our class trip to Stardome. Before I wrote my story I made a plan. This is my plan.

And now I am going to show you my writing my writing might be quite big but I will fix it.

Tuesday 23 of June
It was a fine morning in June. Tuesday the 23 of june is our class trip to stardome.I couldn't wait so straight after I woke up I ran to my brother's bed and shook him. I was so eager to go to school. Our class is going to Stardome with another class, their name is room 2. We are going to Stardome to learn about Matariki. Matariki is the Maori New Year. It is a time to forgive and forget.

When I came to school I was so excited that I told everyone that we are going to Stardome and all they said was We're already know. Before we got ready to go to the hall so we could have breakfast our teacher introduced our group helpers names and which group were in.

At morning tea it was quite empty but there was room 1, 2, 6 and 9 that stayed at school. Some of my friends were gone but all I did was run all over the school and played in the bushwalk. After the bell had gone I ran to class because I didn’t  want to miss the bus but then I realized we were going at 12:30. The other rooms went at a different time, like room 7 went with room 8 before morning tea, room 9 and 1 went after morning tea, our class went with room 7 last.

When it was time to hop on to the bus our teacher counted us as we went to the bus. She said to fill in the back seats so that the teacher and the adults can sit at the front. On our way to stardome we took a shortcut through the houses.

At Stardome we went into a room where a lady told us all about things in space and how we got to see Matariki and other planets and stars. They used a telescope that is in space. The name of the telescope’s name was Habblo. After that the lady gave each parent helper and teachers an ipad there were so many facts that are on the walls so she said we have to find 7 answers for the 7 questions.

My best part was when we had to do the activity because after my group was done there was a big tablet so we played games on it until we had to pack up.

Our Matariki Trip To Stardome

Our Class Trip To Stardome

On Tuesday. Our class went  to Stardome. Stardome is a place in one tree hill. Inside Stardome there are some Lego blocks. The Lego was made into spaceships and are on display in Stardome. We also met a lady. I forgot her name but at least i did not forget the questions she asked us.

My profreading writing

Kia ora
Hi my name is Sharmake

Today my class and I did a proofreading example as a class. The writing at the bottem is my own profread writing.

                                                                          The Builders

It was a humongous house they built by using Lego. The three brothers names were Ben, Henry, and the baby, he did not have a name so they just called him Baby. They were the first people to build a house out of Lego, and felt proud of their hard work. When their little brother was wrecking the ladder that they made from Lego.

Ben got angry, so he growled the baby, ‘he’s just a little kid” said a tiny voice. “Who said that?” whispered Ben scaredly “I did” came a little voice from behind the gigantic house. It was half-built but already it looked bigger than the universe.

The Brothers quietly tiptoed to the corner of the house, and you won't believe what they did?. when they saw what was making the noise they just stood there jaw dropped, it was a tiny yellow, cute little animal. Suddenly after what seemed like hours [when it was five secconds], Ben said “you look cute” then there was a loud rumble and then boom! the tiny creature turned into a big monster it was so big I don't know how to say how it looks.

My Toolkit Presentation

How wHow was today's google Meet sessions different from our usual google Meets?

Well today it was an okay day but even weirder because other people had to come to our meet.

Which sessions did you attend and what did you learn?

I did not attend any other meets because I had technical issues.

What have you created? What did you enjoy and what did you find challenging?

I had created an animation and then I made a different slide talking about how to make an animation.

What are your overall thoughts about the online toolkits? Do you think we could run online toolkits with other schools? (Phil and other teachers are keen to hear back about how our sessions went!)

I think that they went pretty well even though people had to come to other people who had to come.
