Today I made a UV ray indicator. The part I found most hard was looking at today's UV Index. The part I found the most easy and fun was when you have to put the colours in.

Today I made a Origami Star.I tried my best but never gave up. To me it looks like a piece of paper folded in to a star shape I needed help with it but figured it out after a few tries. The part I found most hardest was cutting out the papers. The part I most enjoyed was writing this blog comment.

Today i made a xylophone using nano girls instructions. The thing I found trik the most was puting the sticky taping on the papers together. After I made the Xylophone I thought I might stick it together and this is how it turned out to be.

Today our class made pinch pots. pinch pots are pots made from clay. to make the pinch pots there are only two things you will need through out this journey in making the word most best pinch pots, they are your hands and clay.
First you get a small piece of clay and squish it. Then you roll it into to a ball with your hands put the clay in between your hands and then you roll it in a circular motion. Then you get your thumb
and press it down into your ball. Then if it is hard get a little bit of water in your hand then rub it onto the place where you want to smooth out .
There is your very own pinch pot. What i liked about the task was when we squished it because it felt so relaxing. What I disliked was when we first got the clay because it was cold.

Yesterday 4 people and I made Soy candles as a Christmas gift for the teachers. The first thing we did was put water into the double boiler ( put water in the big pot not small) and leave the small pot empty, then you put it on the stove ( caution you'l need an adult for this). when the water starts to get hot then you can put the wax in to the small pot but before you do that you will have to put the small pot into the boiling water to heat the under side. Then you add 200 grams of soy wax into the empty pot. While the soy is melting you will need to get a tealight holder and put in the wicks. make sure the wicks is straight because when you pour the wax into the tealight holder the wicks will fall over and not become straight. Then when the soy wax becomes into a liquid sought of oil so then you will need to get a thermometer to make sure the temperature is at 75 degrees Celsius. Then pour the wax in to a special measuring cup that can take high temperatures. after that you will need to pour 11 grams of lavender essence ( you can use any kind of essence) then you mix it. After you will pour the wax into the tea light holder then leave them to harden. Once they are hard then you can light it up and enjoy.

Today I did a video for reflecting on the Zespri challenge. The Zespri challenge is when your class receive a box full of some papers and at least 10 pedometers. Pedometers are a tiny machine that counts your steps that you do every day.
Here is my video
This is a pedometer.

today I'm going to tell you a little bit about my culture. The culture that I come from is Somalia. Somalia ( or known as the horn of Africa) is located in the western side of Africa it looks like a horn.Africa is one of the biggest continents in the world. It has more than 50 country's.
What are the food we eat in Somalia
Ninety-eight percent of Somalis eat meat, rice and pasta . Eating fish, apparently, isn't very popular. Vegetables appear to largely be side dishes, and often are woven into a meat dish, such as combining potatoes, carrots and peas with meat and making a stew.
What are the clothes we ware in Somalia
As the climate in Somalia is hot, people cover most of the body from scorching sun and use natural materials to make clothing. They also wear loose garments (even men prefer skirt-like clothing) to prevent overheating. Somali men wear sarong-like clothing (a long piece of cloth wrapped around the waist).

Did you know that people from the Pacific are excellent explorers and navigators. They used the stars, sun and ocean swells to navigate (find their way) around the Pacific Ocean.
Nainoa Thompson used this ancient knowledge to navigate around the world on canoes called Hokule’a and Hikianalia. Here is a short video about Polynesian navigation. Incredible!
If I was to take 10 items on a long trip on a canoe what will I take.

Today our class had a party and disco. We all brought in something to share. I bought popcorn and we also had mufti. Today was the last day that you could bring in our secret Santa. Secret Santa is where you pic out a name and then you have to by something for the person that you got. The budget was 2 dollars. But I couldn't get something so I got something for my secret Santa out of my lunch box. But my teacher was disappointing with me and told me if could not get something from the dairy and I told her I cant.
We also had a dance party during lunch time while everyone was playing outside our class did some boogieing.
